Spinosaurus was one of the largest theropod dinosaurs.

While the team tried to rescue a boy through an anomaly, a Spinosaurus chased them. When the team and the boy went back through, it was seen fighting Carcharodontosaurus. (Episode 1.5)

Spinosaurus may have been the largest meat-eater to walk the Earth. At a jaw-dropping 17m long and weighing up to 20 tonnes, it was even larger than the mighty Tyrannosaurus. The story of this giant killing machine is a recent one. Although bones were found and described between 1912 and 1915 in Egypt, it's only in the last few years that a skeleton has been reconstructed. It would have been a formidable predator of North Africa's giant fish 100 million years ago. The long narrow skull is very similar to modern crocodiles and Spinosaurus lived and hunted in water and on land, as crocodiles do today. The most distinguishing feature of this enormous dinosaur were the 1.5m spines running along its back. They formed a sail that could have been used to regulate heat, to deter enemies or to attract potential mates.
Both one of the largest, and also one of the strangest of the Dinosaur age, Spinosaurus had a long slender snout, and large sail on its back. Spinosaurus was originally discovered in Egypt in the early 1900s. The original fossils were destroyed however, in a bombing raid during World War II. The long snout of Spinosaurus may have been used to catch fish. Some scientists believe that Spinosaurus was a scavenger, using its alligator shaped mouth to eat the soft flesh of rotting animal carcasses. Spinosaurus sail was not unique. During the time period in which it lived, many other dinosaurs had sails, including just about every major type or group of Dinosaurs. What were these sails used for? Dinosaurs were, for the most part, cold-blooded animals. This means that they could not regulate their body temperature. When the whether outside cooled down, so did the bodys of these large animals. Sails may have been used to catch sunlight, and warm the blood Spinosaurus as well as other animals with sails.
It shared the landscape with another large theropod , Carcharodontosaurus.
