Primeval: The Reboot is a big budget makeover of the Primeval franchise.
The Announcement[]
In late 2012, it was announced that TV networks ITV, Watch, ProSeiben, Watch, and Syfy had all received a large amount of money and were told that they had to pick a franchise to reboot. Days later, they announced that they had picked Primeval as the franchise they wanted to reboot. In December 2012, it was announced that ITV and Syfy were going to start off where Primeval and Primeval: New World had left off.
In addition, as part of the deal, three new shows were announced. Primeval: Primetime, the first of the three new shows to be announced, follows a group of kids as they defend Manchester from the anomalies and the creature that come through them. Meanwhile, Primeval: Extinction, the second of the three new shows to be announced, follows a similar premise as Primeval: Primetime, but instead of taking place in the UK, it takes place in the German capital of Berlin. Finally, Primeval: Resurrection, the third and final new show to be announced, takes place in a different locality, this time in the US state of New York, and follows a struggling single father as he tries to balance his time taking care of his children while leading efforts in combating the anomalies.
Later, in January 2013, six films were announced. Though details have yet to be given, it was said that these films would be used to wrap up the story of the Primeval franchise. Days later, a behind-the-scenes show, called Primeval: Extinction Files, was announced. It would followed the development and filming process of Primeval: Extinction, interviewing the cast and crew members, discussing the creatures slated to appear in the show, and behind-the-scenes footage between shoots. Shortly after the announcement of Primeval: Extinction Files, several spin-off and tie-in books and radio productions were announced to coincide with the upcoming Reboot series TV shows.

DVD Releases[]
A DVD release of every season of the Reboot Series will be released, season by season, starting May 2015, with a complete series edition slated for an October 2015 release. In addition, the first five seasons of Primeval and the first season of Primeval: New World will also be included in the Complete Series Edition while Primeval: Extinction and Primeval: Extinction Files will have a special bundle edition that will be released in December 2015.
